Hodge Family History Update
As previously blogged, my ancestors hailed from the eastern shores of Fife, Scotland. Exactly where golf was invented. Inspired by recent family events, I decided to revisit my June 2006 research and go further back. The previous searches had stopped at David Melville’s grandfather: John Hodge Thanks to Scotland’s People, the official government source of births, deaths, marriages, census data and other bits and pieces: searching is easy and relatively cheap. Certainly saves travelling to Sco

Utah
I don’t remember why I started my 50 state project or when…but I am now able to cross Utah off my list. Having been taken in by a lovely family for the last five days…six?…hmm…what day is it? Seriously, how did I ever find time to work? I am soo busy every the time! I am staying in a place called St. George…or Great George…but definitely not Lake George. It is very pretty. I played golf, tasted wine and went hiking in an S-Class. Which for those of you haven’t done that yet, is by far the very be

Toys in the attic
Ahhh, toys. Who doesn't (didn't) adore toys? (And I'm not even referring to adult toys, which is another subject for another time.) Shit, I still have superhero toys every over the fucking place. Although I don't actually play with them. I came across a story about the most recent items inducted into the Strong National Museum of Play's National Toy Hall of Fame: the ubiquitous stick, the Baby Doll and the skateboard. A hall of fame for toys, who knew. A big fan of toys to this day I though

The Outrage- Annika Sorenstam's ADT drug test
The Outrage- Annika Sorenstam's ADT drug test Posted by Bill Jempty Published: Nov 21, 08 08:02 PM Today at the ADT is causing a stir. Ron Sirak wrote about it. Steve Elling had the following to say. "I'm serious and I was tested two weeks ago, so I don't really know what's going on," she said testily. Guess they hadn't heard that she was retiring. "I have no idea, but they're not going to let me go," she said, forcing a giggle. "Yeah, I guess you receive tested every other week now." *****

For Solar-Powered Golfing Trips
Can anything receive more eco-friendly than this? Picture it: an electric golf cart lined with 72 photovoltaic cells on the roof that collects solar energy to the extent of 33% more than non-solar electric golf carts. As impressive as it may sound, the Hammacher Schlemmer cart has a 160-watt array that can lift up to three amps per hour for the 48-volt rechargeable battery system. This means that the cart can run upto 49 miles (approximately 10 rounds of golf) before another charge. By the way

SMELL THE WORLD’S SEXIEST MEN!
People magazine has a new feature, it now includes a “odor and smell” portion. NO KIDDING! The magazine’s hunky picks were asked to select their favorite sexy fragrances. For example, Gossip boy Chace Crawford chose “freshly clip grass” because he says that as a child he was always playing a lot of football and golf and, as he says, “When I odor freshly clip grass I receive this air of competition. It wakes me up, gets me going.” Hmmm… HOT! He gets me going! Other stars include Taye Diggs,

Red Sox Farm Friday: Michael Bowden
Do the Red Sox have a starting pitcher of the future? Well no other pitching prospect in the system looks as promising as this tall young righty. Michael Bowden could be a Red Sox middle-of-the-rotation starter for the next decade. Of course, Bowden is still just a prospect. Many similar prospects have arrive, impressed, and then faded into system, never to be heard from again. Then again, this may be the year Bowden earns his way to a starting job and bursts onto the scene. He is still just 22,

Using Promotional Products And Corporate Gifts To Your Advantage
by Chris Channing If you have ever gotten a free pen or pencil and noticed the logo of a company on it, then you have probably seen a promotional product. These are meant to be used frequently, and most people do use them. When they are used they help to advertise the company that issued them out and even if you don’t buy from them immediately, you are constantly refreshed on the fact that they exist. Giving out promotional products free always shows a consumer that you are willing to spend so
